I use drawing in a variety of ways: sketching out ideas, planning larger works and paintings, and creating fully-realized drawings in combination with paint.

Recollecting Reality

This series involved an exploration of recollecting the facial features of close friends, family, loved ones, as well as my own face. I drew faces from memory and then painted over these images with white acrylic paint to block out sections and give the drawing surface a resistance. On top of these drawings, I then layered drawn images from the reality of those facial features, based on photographs and from life. The resulting images were sometimes comical, and other times, rather disturbing.
